LEGALIS RATIO
VIT LAW SCHOOL
Let's Debate! A mere understanding of the concepts and logic of law is definitely important but may not be helpful always. In addition to that, "Understanding the judgements" plays an important role in every lawyer's life as he argues his way in court. Legalis Ratio provides a wide platform for law students to analyze latest Supreme Court and Foreign judgments, thus enhancing our horizon in the field of law. This is a blog, a venture of VIT Law School where articles and write ups of the students are published on various topics and case judgments. Other students can also comment and debate on these issues on the blog, creating indefinite awareness to all the unknown.
Legalis Ratio (Legal Reasoning) is an academic exercise that forms part of the 5 year B.A./BBA LL.B. (Hons) course with one credit attached to it in each semester. It is a mandatory exercise for every student pursuing B.A./BBA LL.B. (Hons) course where students, on an individual basis, select a case law, preferably of the appellate courts, either Indian or foreign, to be discussed on a specific day of every week in front of rest of the students and faculty members.
The students will be divided into different equal groups and will be assigned to each faculty who will review the case law selected by the group. Once approved, the students of a group are required to work on the case law, frame issues for discussion, submit in advance, a soft copy of the brief containing the facts in short, issues for discussion, names of the presenters and materials referred. Thereafter a presentation of all the students of the group together with frequent Q&A sessions and discussions will take place followed by a faculty comment.
The aim is to train and develop analytical and reasoning skills in students in addition o generating an interest in them towards case laws and recent legal issues.
The students are expected to possess good lawyering skills with good communication and presentation skills besides acquiring an outstanding knowledge in almost all fields of laws.
